Students will explore hands-on activities and projects similar to those that animal science specialists (such as veterinarians, zoologists, livestock producers, and industry personnel) encounter in their respective careers. Students will also develop a Producer’s Management Guide as a yearlong project on the care and management of an animal. Students have the opportunity to earn 3 college credits (ANS 121) through this course. Students will have the opportunity to compete in the Meat Science, Horse, and Livestock Judging Career Development Events. The FFA and SAE programs will be an integral part of the class.
